Hengshan Calligraphy Art Center
“Directly across from alfar Hotel is the expansive Calligraphy Park, home to the Hengshan Calligraphy Art Center. Retaining its traditional place name, it is the first calligraphy-themed museum in Taiwan operated by the government. In this park, designed with the concept of a “”inkstone”” and the pond as an “”ink pool,”” architect Pan Tianyi created a distinctive main building complex resembling five seal scripts. This unique design won the Gold Award for “”Best Planning and Design”” at the 2018 National Construction Excellence Awards. The Hengshan Calligraphy Art Center is dedicated to the preservation, research, development, and promotion of calligraphy art in Taiwan. It aims to establish a foundation for calligraphy research and education, shape local cultural and artistic characteristics, and promote international calligraphy exchanges. The center aspires to deepen the appreciation and practice of calligraphy art in Taoyuan and Taiwan, allowing this culturally rich art form to flourish.
